Terms and conditions

Last updated 27 October 2026

Privacy Cookies Terms

These terms cover your use of tropedungeon.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. About us

TropeDungeon is run by Axle Network in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can contact us at privacy@tropedungeon.com.

2. Adults only

TropeDungeon catalogues dark romance: adult fiction that can include explicit sexual content, violence, abuse and other disturbing themes. You must be 18 or over to use the site or create an account. Book pages show spice levels and trigger warnings, but please read them and decide for yourself what's right for you.

3. Book information

Tropes, spice levels, trigger warnings and descriptions come from readers and public sources such as Open Library. We check submissions before they go live, but we can't promise every detail is complete or correct. A missing trigger warning doesn't mean a book is free of that content. If you spot a mistake, let us know.

4. Accounts

  • Give a real email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
  • Accounts are for one person. Display names mustn't impersonate anyone or be offensive.
  • You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see the privacy policy).
  • We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms.

5. Author accounts

Authors can ask us to link their account to their author page. We only do this once we're satisfied you're the author or act for them. On your page you can add a bio, photo, links and a featured book, and choose whether to show your reading list. Everything you add is public. It must be yours to share, accurate, and not misleading. You can't change the trope tags, spice levels or trigger warnings on your books yourself, because readers set those. You can email us about mistakes. We may edit or remove profile content, or remove author access, if these terms are broken.

6. What you submit

When you submit a book, suggest a trope or vote, you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that you're entitled to share anything you write. You keep any rights you have in it. You also give us a free, permanent, worldwide licence to publish, edit, combine and display it on TropeDungeon.

We review submissions and may edit, reject or remove any of them without giving a reason. Please don't submit:

  • text copied from someone else's review, blurb or website without permission
  • spam, adverts or links to pirated books
  • anything unlawful, hateful or meant to harass someone
  • personal information about other people

7. Acceptable use

Don't try to break, overload or get round the site's security. Don't scrape it in bulk, automate votes or submissions, or use it to send spam. Normal personal use, and linking to any page, is always welcome.

8. Affiliate links

As an Amazon Associate, TropeDungeon earns from qualifying purchases. "Find it on Kindle" links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission and you pay the same price. Your purchase is between you and Amazon, on Amazon's terms. Links never affect which books we list or how we rank them.

9. Other sites and content

Book titles, cover images and author names belong to their authors, publishers and other rights holders. We show them to identify the books. If you're a rights holder and want something changed or removed, email us and we'll deal with it promptly. We aren't responsible for the content of other sites we link to.

10. The site itself

The TropeDungeon name, logo, artwork, design and code belong to us. TropeDungeon is free and provided "as is". We'll try to keep it running and accurate, but we don't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may change or withdraw features at any time.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, because the site is free, we aren't liable for any indirect loss, or for any loss arising from book information, third-party sites or purchases you make elsewhere. If you're a consumer, these terms don't affect your legal rights.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time and will change the date at the top when we do. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new terms.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, but if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings there.
