Cookie policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
TropeDungeon uses a single cookie, and only once you log in. It's strictly necessary to keep you logged in, so the law doesn't require a consent banner for it. That's why you don't see one.
Our cookie
| Name | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
connect.sid | Keeps you logged in as you move between pages, and protects your forms against cross-site forgery. It holds a random ID only. Your details stay on our server. | 30 days, or until you log out (12 hours for admins) |
If you browse without logging in, we don't set any cookie at all. The cookie is sent over HTTPS only, can't be read by scripts, and isn't sent with forms or background requests from other sites.
What we don't use
We don't use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social media widgets or fingerprinting scripts, and we don't use local storage in your browser. Our visit counts are worked out on our own server without cookies (see the privacy policy).
Third parties
- Google Fonts: the site's fonts load from Google. Google says it doesn't set cookies for these requests.
- Book covers load from the sites that host them. We ask for images only, so no third-party scripts run on our pages.
- Amazon: clicking a "Find it on Kindle" link takes you to Amazon. Amazon then sets its own cookies, including one that credits us with a qualifying sale. That happens on Amazon's site, under Amazon's cookie notice.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Browsing and searching work without cookies, but you need our cookie to log in and use your TBR list.
